Process-oriented project management is our holistic project management approach that considers both hard factors such as strategies, structures and processes and soft factors such as project culture, team relationships and mental models. Why is project management important?Projects are an essential part of everyday corporate life, for many reasons: Implementing a new corporate startegy, aligning business processes or introducing new IT-systems. Projects are needed to ensure that such undertakings quickly and economically fulfill their objectives. How does our approach differ? We recognize that projects are complex socio-economic systems that continuously need to be realigned to a changing environment. To achieve this, a project manager needs to be able to understand the current state of his projects and its environment and to transform it if necessary. Using the "transformation compass" we provide modells, methods and tools that allow integrated planing, control and transformation of a project. Our book "Process-oriented project management"A number of resources from this website describe our project management approach in more detail. It is also described in our book "Process-oriented project management", published in German as "Prozessorientiertes Projekt-Management" (Hanser, 2004).
