An Approach Using Agent-based Modeling and Reinforcement Learning
This post first provides a brief introduction to agent-based modeling and reinforcement learning. It then applies these ideas to training artificial intelligence to play the infamous Beer Game.
The infamous Beer Distribution Game was originally developed in the late 1950s by Jay Forrester at MIT to introduce the concepts of dynamic systems, in this case the dynamic system is a supply chain that delivers beer from a brewery to the end consumer. What makes the game so intriguing is that the structure of the supply chain and the rules of the game are simple, yet the resulting behavior is quite complex.
